De Molfetta Strode is a Swiss landscape architecture partnership founded in 2013 by Hope Strode and Federico De Molfetta. The work is characterized by an intrinsic attention to site, an imaginative and ecological approach to design, and by the immersive sensory environments which it creates.
Combining backgrounds in horticulture and architecture, De Molfetta Strode are able to reveal the beauty, and often tension, between the exuberant plantings and the quiet attention to craft. With a core belief in the poetic power of landscape to create a sense of rootedness and meaning within the frenetic pace of the digital era, the critically-regionalist practice ties together ecology with the culture of place in designs which value economy, social inclusion, and climate adaptation.
Hope Strode is a landscape architect and architect with a Master of Landscape Architecture with distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design where she was recipient of the Penny White Fellowship and the Peter Walker Traveling Fellowship. Prior to studying landscape, she worked as an architect in Massachusetts (USA). She has a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon. Alongside practice she maintains an active presence in academia, teaching and lecturing in Europe and the United States.
Federico De Molfetta is a landscape architect and gardener with a Master in Design Studies in Urbanism, Landscape and Ecology from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a Master of Architecture from Accademia di Architettura della Svizzera Italiana. Prior to founding De Molfetta Strode he worked as a landscape architect in Lisbon and Berlin and as a gardener for the Lisbon Botanical Garden (Portugal) and the Arnold Arboretum (USA).
